2017 Glossop Schools' Spelling Bee

On Wednesday 28th June, we held the second annual Glossop Spelling Bee. Hosted by Miss Pitchford and held in the large hall at  Glossopdale, schools from across the area were invited to enter six children to compete for the Spelling Bee Trophy. Of the six children that reached the final, four children from our school made it that far. After a tense final round between a fantastic speller from Padfield School and our year 5 pupil Henry, the overall champion was... Henry Ford. Well done Henry! You can see the trophy, engraved with Henry's name, on display near the school office.

Egypt Theme Day June 2017

What a fantastic day we had ! We enjoyed dressing up and exploring the people of ancient Egypt by trying out their jobs a scribes and craft makers. We created hieroglyphics, made clay scarab beetles and pharaoh death masks. Then in the afternoon, we created our own museum in the school hall. We loved showing our projects to each other. Thank you to the parents who came to visit our museum too. There are more photographs in the Egypt section on our class page.

22/05/2017 - English

This week we have started our new text in English.

Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo.

We enjoyed the 'hook' lesson, to introduce the book, by creating desert islands, maps and Japanese origami.
