World Book Day March 2022

Magic Moments 2021-22

We went on a Teddy Bear's Picnic in the woods.  It was the first time we explored our wonderful woodland together and there were lots of 'wows'!  We sat in the fire circle and had some teddy bear crisps and played a 'Brown Bear Brown Bear' game.  We had a lovely time.

We had a special treat, watching a film to round up our latest topic work...we even had popcorn and turned the lights low to make our very own Dukes cinema!

Special Events 2019-2020

We very much enjoyed our 1st magic moment this year, making jam sandwiches then taking our teddies into the woods for a teddy bear's picnic. smiley

We had lots of fun during our 'parent week' earlier in November.  Each of our family groups chose a day to invite an adult to come into school for an hour in the morning with them.  They got to learn, explore and play together and our parents didn't want to leave!

"Thank you so much for sharing the classrooms with us. J and I really enjoyed it."

"Thank you so much for having us. It was so lovely to see the children in their school environment and  to see how happy they all are! I think this was a fabulous idea and hope you are able to let us visit again soon. I know P loved it."

"I would like to say a thank you to all of you for inviting us and making me feel so welcome.  I was extremely anxious letting H go off to preschool. However this visit has really cemented in my mind that it was the right decision. You all seem lovely and H is clearly very happy. I hope we can come again. Once more thank you."

Our Nativity 'Shine Star Shine' was a great success!  We were very proud of our lovely children and of course the parents loved it!  Well done children, you started Christmas with a real shining moment.

We have now had our 2nd magic moment for the year, visiting Glossop Garden Centre to see the 'twinkly Christmas lights' and have a tasty hot chocolate and marshmallows.  We had a lovely time on our first little trip away from school and were very excited.

Latest lovely parent comments:

"Well done O and well done Early Years team for encouraging and motivating him to learn so much in such a short time!" RW

"She has been talking about 2D and 3D shapes thanks to what you have been covering with her.  We've been pointing out some of the shapes when we are out and about." GN (great learning back up at home!)

"Thanks for sending us these nice updates, they are really heart-warming!" NM

"A has loved all the learning and fun activities at school - thank you!" KS

For our magic moment in Term 4, we are planning to have a family day just before Mother's Day.  We are going to write and post a special invitation to someone special (by going to the post office and buying our own stamp), then bake some tasty treats and serve them to our families in an afternoon tea!
Our next magic moment was watching 'Lost and Found' with popcorn in the 'classroom cinema'!  We closed all the blinds and had a fab time.  We loved watching the film of the text we had been working on.
We are inviting any family members who work in the public services, 'real life superheroes' who help other people.  We would love any police, fire fighters, doctors or nurses etc to come into school for half an hour or so to talk to the children to bring their jobs to life.  Please contact a member of the Early Years team if you can help.  Thank you.
