The Duke of Norfolk CofE Primary School

Physical Education

The children have up to 2 hours of quality PE each week. This can be as part of a PE lesson taught by their teacher, a session with our Tameside coach, a swimming session at the pool or a session in Forest Schools with Mr Ellison.  In their PE lessons the children will do a range of activities including; games, athletics, gymnastics, dance and specific sports when they are with the coach. They work in the hall or outside depending on the activity and the weather!

We also run a range of after school clubs which cater for all ages and include many different sports, for example; football, gymnastics, dance, multi-sports and hockey.

We also have coaching sessions for the key stage children during the lunch times on Thursdays and Fridays.

The Year 6 children go on an annual residential trip which encourages the outdoor and adventurous element of PE.

We run Bikeability courses for the older children and in January we will be introducing Little Bikers sessions for our reception children.

We are involved in many activities off site both during and after school, for example; different tournaments throughout the year, dance days at Glossopdale College, football leagues for girls and boys and gymnastics sessions and competitions at the leisure centre.

Every October we enter a team of about 80 into the Glossop Jog and they all have great fun taking part in this family event.

We are very pleased and proud to have been awarded the School Games Mark silver award in September 2017.

Through Sport and PE we hope to encourage all our children to lead a healthy lifestyle and keep active whilst at the same time having fun and maybe trying something new!
