Cycle One 2021 - 202

During Autumn term 1 in English, we will be reading Rainbow Fish to the Rescue and writing our own stories with PSHE issues. We will also be writing non-chronological reports about our own sea creatures.

 

During Autumn term 2, we plan to use The Diabolical Mr. Tiddles and write our own stories with dilemmas. We will also be writing recounts in role as Mr. Tiddles.

 

During Spring term 1, we plan to use Pandora's Box and write our own story from another culture.  We will also be writing newspaper articles inspired by Pandora's Box.

 

During Spring term 2, we plan to use the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur and write our own story with a historical setting. We will also be writing our own explanations of our 'mythical beast traps'.

 

During Summer term 1, we plan to use the story The King of Space and write our own stories with a fantasy setting. We will also be exploring persuasive writing by creating our own Choco-Goo adverts.

 

During Summer Term 2, we plan to use the story Stone Age Boy and to also enjoy reading and writing poems.

Cycle One texts

Cycle Two 2020 - 2021

In the first two weeks, we will be sharing the story Here We Are which is a whole school text about coming together. 

 

During autumn term 1 in English, we have been reading Cloudland and writing our own stories with a fantasy setting. 

We have also been reading Camille and the Sunflowers and will be writing our own biographies of Vincent Van Gough. 

 

During autumn term 2, we have been reading the story Hurricane and writing our own adventure stories. We have also been reading the story The Last Tree and writing persuasive letters about deforestation. We will be including a poetry unit with a Christmas focus.

 

During spring term 1, we have been exploring stories from a different culture by reading the myth of Romulus and Remus and writing our own Roman myths.  We have also been writing non-chronological reports linked to our Roman topic.

 

During spring term 2, we have been reading the story Escape from Pompeii and have written our own stories with historical settings. We have also written our own newspaper reports about a volcanic eruption. 

 

During summer term 1, we will be sharing the story of Beowulf and will be writing out own legend story.  We will also be writing our own explanation text for how to be a good leader.
