Writing

Children are taught to write in a variety of text types and genres, including story, information, explanation and persuasion. They are taught to plan and draft their ideas, and also write for a range of audiences and purposes. Grammar, punctuation and spelling skills are embedded in our teaching. High quality picture books are used as inspiration for writing, alongside drama, videos and hands-on experiences. Cross-curricular links are made in writing, where children regularly apply their skills through other subjects. We are always looking to improve the quality of the children's writing and set targets for them to work towards.
