Space - Infinity and Beyond!

Picture 1

In our first lesson on 'Space' we took to the playground to create a scale model of our solar system.  We worked out that if the sun had a diameter of 48cm, the earth's relative size would be 4mm in diameter.  Using this scale we worked out that 50m (the length of the playground) would be the distance from the sun to Earth (about 150,000,000km in real life).  We worked out that to plot all of the planets/dwarf planets in the solar system, we'd need to put Pluto (only 1mm in diameter) almost 2km away.

On a mission in the Space Station.

We were investigating Earth's rotation with shadows.
