At the Duke of Norfolk school we believe that art fosters children’s creativity and should include the acquisition of skills, artistic interpretation and the study of the work of famous artists. Children work to improve their artistic and observational skills during lessons while getting the opportunity to experiment with different media, e.g. paint, charcoal, pastel, collage, sketching, printing and clay in both 2D and 3D work. When designing and building products, the children are encouraged to design and make items that can be of use and can function properly to fulfil their purpose. Where possible art and design work is related to the topics and themes that are on-going in class.
